My artwork is presented as an exhibition that is wall mounted in a typical Gallery Exhibition style, where I have experimented in using small- and large-scale wood pieces together with other materials to achieve an impact to represent my ideas.
My project for this Degree Exhibition showcases a re-enactment of a Medieval battlefield presented on different texture pieces of wood. It focuses on reminding the audience of battles fought in the medieval history era, whilst at the same time expressing a move to modern dress images by including in the re-enactment scenes of people wearing both medieval costume and individuals wearing modern clothing, exhibiting consumerist traits. One of my art impressions also represents a factual re-enactment of the Battle of Towton in 1461. My intention is to emphasise this combination in the foreground by highlighting selected sections in bright colours. The materials used for this project are wood, to illustrate the surface background and represent the material used by artists in the medieval period. The centrepiece is a design created from an image transfer; a secondary image is taken from a google image page. The foreground in all my presented artwork is coloured, either by ink or with various bright paints so that the images are prominent. My artwork represents my thoughts and feeling of my two favourite periods, intertwined through action in a popular event.
